    1. [ALJACKSO] GRIDER Family
    2. Regina Pipes
    3. June 16, 2001 The descendants of Joseph GRIDER/GUIDER/GRYDER & Ann Eliza TUCK GRIDER (married 1846 Blount County, Tennessee) will have their first combined reunion in Blount County, Tennessee. More information to come later. One of their sons Francis Marion GRIDER who married Martha Louisa GOLD lived in Jackson County. There is still many family members in that area. There is only one child of Frank & Martha GRIDER still living and she is Dorothy GRIDER/BRANDON/TALLEY. She is in the nursing home behind the Jackson county Hospital in Scottsboro. I need family members to contact me with their family update. I made a booklet two years ago for the Frank & Martha GRIDER reunion/ birthday party for Dorothy Talley. I want to put new pictures and up to date addresses and phone numbers as well as birth, marriage or just anything new in your life that is going on. Please e-mail me at regina.pipes@prodigy.net Thank you so very much Regina GRIDER Pipes Austin, Texas

    1. [ALJACKSO] Rorex families
    2. I am looking for all information on the Rorex families from Jackson Co., AL. I have been looking over census records, cemetery records, and marriage records. One ROREX in particular is Samuel ROREX b: 1853 Stevenson, Jackson Co., AL d: 1926 Jonesboro, Craighead Co., AR Samuel was married to Charity Ann "Annie" MOORE b: 1856 TN d: aft. 1900 AR. Rumor has it that Charity was of Indian descent. My problem with her side is that I can't seem to find her family anywhere. Don't know the name of her parents or anything. Samuel's parents were: John ROREX and Mary Evaline ALLISON. Would love any information on the ROREX and MOORE's that can be given. Queet Jaco

In Missouri, I found Thomas (going by T Jefferson, which is how we knew him), James and Jesse, living with a Kelly family (father born in Tennessee, same as James Gray -- possibly cousins, or possibly T.W. is James' brother-in-law) in Stoddard County in the 1880 census. I also obtained a copy of Thomas J Gray and Mary Bowback's marriage license, from 1882. I could not, however, find any record of Mary's family in Missouri.. 1880 Census in Stoddard County MISSOURI: Kelly, T. 1. [ALJACKSO] WADE,HAMES,CRAIG,BLAKE,WATERS,MATHIS
    2. Eldon Wade
    3. I am trying to find info on the Elijah WADE family that appears on the 1840 Morgan Co AL census, in the 6th Regiment area. This portion of Morgan Co (twp 6, 7,8) became part of Marshall Co on 12-5-1840. Elijah and his family were also on the 1850 and 1860 Marshall Co AL census. Elijah WADE m. Rebecca HAMES on 12-30-1823 in Hall Co GA. Rebecca was b. abt. 1802 SC and was the dau. of John HAMES and Charity JASPER. I think Elijah and Rebecca lived in GA from 1823 to 1825 (prob. Hall Co.) and moved to SC abt. 1833 (prob. in Union, Cherokee or Spartanburg Co) as they had children b. in both GA and SC. Known children of my Elijah WADE were: 1. Elizabeth WADE b. abt. 1825 GA, m. Nicholas BLAKE in Marshall Co in 1842 2. Unknown son b. bet. 1826 and 1830 3. Margaret WADE b. abt. 1827 AL, m. John BLAKE in Marshall Co in 1842 4. Nancy Caroline WADE b. abt. 1830, m. Jesse MATHIS in Marshall Co in 1847 5. Martha Ann WADE b. abt. 1833 SC, m. Claiborn C. WATERS in Marshall Co in 1854 6. William WADE (my gg-grandfather) b. abt. 1834 AL, m. Catharine CRAIG in Marshall Co in 1855 7. Unknown son b. bet. 1836 and 1840 8. Elijah WADE Jr and Elisha WADE (twins) b. abt. 1842 AL, Elijah Jr. m. Eliza BLAKE in Marshall Co in 1862 I am really interested in finding the parents of Elijah WADE. The last I can find of William WADE and his wife Catharine CRAIG is the 1860 Marshall Co census. Their son James appears on the 1870 Marshall Co census with his grandmother Nancy CRAIG. Any help finding William or Catharine would be very appreciated. Thank you for any help you may provide. Eldon

    1. [ALJACKSO] Kennemore/Kennemer- Gibson
    2. Judy Wilson-Conrad
    3. My grandfather’s name was Charley Lee Kennemer, born in Long Island, Jackson Co., AL., in June 1886. He did not read or write so the spelling of his name wasn’t always correct depending on who wrote it for him. His fathers name was Charley also born about 1866, married Martha (Mattie) Elizabeth GIBSON about 1885 and he was killed in a fight over a boat called a yawl, 30 April 1886, about a month before my grandfather was born. Charley Lee thought his dad was born in Jackson Co AL but wasn’t sure. We have some papers that state that Charley Sr’s dad was Jack Kennemore of Jackson Co. AL but may have been from Tennessee. Charley senior had a brother Burnett Kennemer who was living in 1937 & visited my family in Oklahoma. His address then was Highway 24, South Pittsburg, Tennessee. He told our family how to spell Kennemer. I have not had any luck with Census’ or anything else I’ve tried. I can find info on Mattie’s family but not the Kennemer’s. If anyone has the tiniest clue that might help me, I would really appreciate it. Thank you Judy Conrad

    1. [ALJACKSO] BAXTER, 1838, JACKSON COUNTY
    2. Grace Constantine
    3. Hello, James Monroe BAXTER, born 1838 in Jackson County per his CSA records. He lived as a youngster in Scott County, Arkansas, served in CSA unit from Crawford County, Arkansas. Settled in Crawford County, a brother John Napoleon BAXTER also served with him in the same unit. John settled in Texas in late 1860's. Believe they are both older relatives of my grandfather, Arthur Wellington BAXTER. Grandpa died fairly young and not much family history is known. They lived with Reuben Wayne and Sophia Baxter in Scott County. Sophia died in childbirth and Reuben believed to have gone to Texas, leaving children with a Nathan Nicholson also of Scott County. Reuben and Sophia were from Tennessee per 1850 census. Anyone know of this line? Thanks for any replies. Best regards, Grace Baxter Constantine gconstan@worldpath.net

    1. [ALJACKSO] JONES 1900
    2. Hi, I am looking for information on a James JONES. Supposedly he was married to an indian woman named Martha. They had a daughter around 1898 and her name was Redy Shephard JONES. What we were told is that when Redy was very small, maybe 2 or 3 yrs old, her dad caught her mom with another man and killed her. This could just be hearsay though. We don't know for sure. Redy was left in a home for children and later taken in by a family, John and Pearl SMITH. John was a coal miner. I know John and Pearl lived in BRIDGEPORT for awhile. Does this sound familiar to anyone or is anyone know of a James JONES that married an indian woman around 1897 or so? Any information at all would really be appreciated. Redy is my great grandmother and she never even knew her birthday. Thanks, Deb
