Hi everybody! I was surfing around the Library of Congress website and found the URL for the reference guide on American immigrants I offered to send to everyone! (I didn't have it before) I will still honor requests to forward the reference guide to anyone who asks, but now all of you have the option to go to the site and read it for yourself. They have lots of interesting things (online displays, etc...) to access from the Library's homepage that I'm sure you would also find interesting. On the bottom of the guide's page there is a link to take you back to the homepage to do this. Go to: http://lcweb.loc.gov/rr/genealogy/bib_guid/immigrant.html Happy Hunting! Joanne
Hi Joanne, Would be grateful if you could forward the document " Immigrant Arrivals" . Many of my ancestors immigrated to TN and Al, particularly the Scot Irish. Thanks for the effort you are expending to help the community. I would really appreciate a copy of "Immigrant Arrivals" So nice of you to share with all of us. Thanks again, Joann Green Coleman
Hi all, I have a reference document from the Library of Congress entitled, "Immigrant Arrivals, guide to published sources" compiled by Virginia Steele Wood. This guide ONLY pertains to people who immigrated TO the UNITED STATES of AMERICA. SOME of the topics included in this relatively long reference are: Discusses ship passenger lists, dates of laws passed in regard to this and their purpose; Discusses the National Archives and it's holdings; Indentured Servitude and how it related to US immigration; A listing of MANY, MANY reference books with summaries of their contents. Discusses the role Canada played in US immigration. And others..... This document is an EXCELLENT resource guide for genealogy! The information applies to/ and the book listings cover a wide range of nationalities (German, Irish, Czeh, English, etc...) I offered to forward this reference guide to anyone interested on a couple of the other email lists I am subscribed to. Because of the AVALANCHE of requests I received it led me to think that I should extend the invitation to all of you as well. Between yesterday and today I handled over 200 requests for this guide. I just feel it is great information and want to make it available to everyone. I, of course, am willing to do the work of forwarding it at no cost to any of you, (except the time it will take you to read it :-). If any of you would like me to forward this document, please email me OFF LIST. Your comments are welcome, but I regret that due to the volume of this task, I won't be able to reply to any of your questions about it. You will simply have to read it for yourself. For some people I have already forwarded it to, it showed up in the body of the email. For others an attachment was involved. In regard to the attachment, you need not be concerned about any virus spread as I have scanned this document using the latest DAT files. This document is CLEAN. Feel free to pass this guide on to anyone you think might be interested in it without worry. Depending on how many requests I receive it may take me a day or two to fulfill. Please be patient. I think that about covers everything. Happy reading, and let the requests begin! :-) Joanne
Thanks very much. Sherry

I don't know if there is any connection, but I am trying to locate information on Thomas Robinson who married Nancy Bryan and James Robinson who married Elizabeth Bryan. These marriage occurred in the 1860s. The two Bryan women were the daughters of James R. Bryan and Susan Denman Bryan. Does any of this sound familiar? I have a James Moore that married a Lucy Cunningham, probably in Jackson County. They had a child, John Washington Moore in 1852 {?}. Probably too much of a coincidence to not be a match somewhere. ...life is not a rehearsal. It is a big event. Life's in session, and it slips away quickly, so pay attention. Several members of my Mullins clan were in Jackson Co. Some of these include Jesse Frank Mullins, George W. Mullins, and plain old George Mullins. Legend has it that plain old George Mullins changed his surname to Wright after a scrape with the law. He supposedly died in 1939. George (Wright) Mullins' mother, Catherine, may have married a Mr. Wright some time after 1870. I also believe that my GG grandparents, John D. Mullins and Sarah Virginia Turner, where married there in 1874. I also appears that Sarah Virginia's mother(Lindsey Buffaloe Turner) and stepfather(Delany Hardin) where divorced there between 1885 and 1900. These families lived in the Trenton area. I wonder if the court house in Scottsboro has such records?
