A 1909 article states there were 3 stores, a couple of dwellings and the now famous Poplar Head springs twenty years before. It says people camped there overnight as they passed through. And in 1909, after the name of the town was changed to Dothan a swimming pool was built at the old Poplar Head springs. The name was changed to Dothan before Houston County was formed; an old RR map shows Dothen (sic) in Henry Co.
