I tried responding to a message on the list last week but it didn't show up so I guess I did it wrong. I'm trying again this way. According to information I have, Rocky Creek Church is on Creek Church Road southeast of Ashford. I think the best route is to take Rocky Creek Road south until it intersects Creek Church Road which is Route 2. Turn left and the cemetery will be just up the road on the left at the intersection of Creek Church Road and Whitaker Road. Some of my family members are supposed to be buried in this cemetery but when a cousin went there she couldn't find gravestones for any of them. According to a list at www.rootsweb.com/~fljackso/houston/rockycreek1.html which was originally typed June 1957 by Adrene Gleave Dean, D.H. Sowell and Martha (Fillingim) Sowell are buried there. Martha's death certificate says she was buried at Rocky Church 14 December 1927. According to the Henry County register of deaths, Charles Fillingim who died 10 November 1896 at the age of 1 year and 4 months was buried at the Rocky Cemetery which I think is this same cemetery. Does anyone know the history of this cemetery? Would the Methodist Church have any records of who is buried in this cemetery? ----------------------------------------- *****************Internet Email Confidentiality Footer****************** Privileged/Confidential Information may be contained in this message. Hello all. This is my first posting so I have a general question regarding legal age for marrying in the State of Alabama. Could someone tell me what the legal age would have been for a female marrying in Houston Co., AL in 1942? Would a parent have to be present and give their permission? Thanks to anyone who can provide this information to me. Ida

I read that cemetery last year and can't find a grave for that person but there are numerous graves without headstones so it still may br there. If you are still comeing to Dothan and are interested in visiting that cemetery send me an email when you are comeing and I will be happy to show it to you. It is rather hard to find if you don't know Dothan. Lawrence

My family attended the ROCKY BRANCH Methodist Church when I was a boy in the late '30s & early '40s. Rocky Branch Church (if this might be the one you are looking for) is just outside the "Circle" around Dothan. Find the Kinsey Road on the east side of town & exit the circle there. Travel approx 1/2 mile & stop at a home for directions. The church cemetery is still there, but the building is gone. If this is not the correct cemetery, phone the UNITED METHODIST CHURCH DISTRICT OFFICE in Dothan. They might know.
