    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Smart, Clark Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/ZS.2ADI/477 Message Board Post: Hello, I am looking for anyone who might be researching the Charles J. Smart family near and around Webb. I know that he was born Apr. 25, 1860 in Georgia (possibly near Edison???) and died Jan. 9, 1944 in Houston County. He is buried at the Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery. In the cemetery transcription, a Betty P. Smart is listed. She is listed as being born in 1881 and possibly wife of C. J. I think she is a daughter, though. My line is through his daughter Ada "Addie" Christine Smart. She was born in 1884. I have no idea who the mother is, except her surname might be 'Gamble'. I think I have found Charlie on the 1880 census of Henry County (before Houston County was formed) and I have found him on the 1920 and 1930 censuses of Houston County. Addie married James (Reginald?) Clark in 1904 in Holmes County, Florida. They had four or five children, I believe. Their son William Oliver Clark was my great grandfather. I know little about the Clark's except that James died in 1929 after the Hoover Flood. Addie was head of household in Geneva city in the 1930 census and she is buried at the Geneva City Cemetery, by herself. James Clark is believed to be buried in Holmes County, FL. Addie died in 1945, I believe. If anyone could tell me anything, I would be very grateful! I have hit many brick walls with this line, and any help is welcome. Thank you! Clark Solomon Tuscaloosa, AL

Cemetery. It is in Ashford, just outside of Dothan. Take Highway 84 East. You'll have to look for the road when you get into Ashford. You will take a right turn onto Rocky Creek Road. Go to the second Antioch Bapt. Church. It will be on your right and there is a crossroad there. Take a left onto that Road. Can't remember the name, sorry. Anyway, go to the dead end and turn right onto Church Creek Road. The church is on your right, just down the road a bit. Red brick church. White sign with black lettering.."Rocky Creek Methodist Church". Good luck!!

Rocky Creek Meth. is in Ashford, just outside of Dothan, off Hiway 84 E. Turn onto Rocky Creek Road to the right. Go to Antioch Baptist Church and take a left (the second Antioch B. Church, yes there are two!!) The second is at a crossroad. Take a left there and go to the dead end. That is Church Creek Road. The church is down just a bit on the right. Rocky Branch is a different Cemetery. The church is no longer there. It was on land donated by one of my relatives, J.J. Burdeshaw. The cemetery is in pretty good shape. My GGGG grands are there. It is just off the Circle near Northview HS. It is in the middle of a residential neighborhood. Good luck if you go again. I'll look up the name when I go again. There is a community outside of Dothan known as Cowarts, if my memory is correct. DDW

If you still need directions, please contact me at ISing4Him1@aol.com. I will be going there again this summer in July. My GG grandparents on both sides are buried there as is My G grandfather. The church is still there, a brick building. It is kept in very good shape to be as old as it is. I hope you did find it, but if you are going again, I will gladly give you good directions. I can send photos of the cemetery, church and sign out front. Debbie
