Frances Angeline MATHIS McCardel wife of Benjamin I, McCardel died in 1960 in Columbus, GA. In her obituary the names of the pall bearers are mentioned along with the statement that they were grandsons and nephews. We have accounted for all except one whose name is Marvin NOLAN. Frances A. McCardel was the daughter of Edmond Mathis who is buried in Ramah Cemetery at Cottonwood, Houston, AL. Does anyone on this list know who Marvin NOLAN is/was and how he is related to Frances? Two of her sisters are still not found. They are Nancy Temperance Mathis who was born 1862 and Mary Jane Mathis who was born 1867. Both were born in AL. Any help greatly appreciated. Growing up in the community, we referred to it as Winslett (referencing the church across the road). I did not know that the 'official' name was Jellico Community Cemetery until I reached adulthood. It probably was always Jellico but folks referred to it by different names. Many obits mentioned Piney Grove or Winslett but the people are actually buried at Jellico. Piney Grove Church is just down SR 9 with a cemetery attached.
