The ftp access ... is not.. for the whole site. U can give access to the only page in question. Same as alhn give access to sites for voluteers Same as us gen web and rootsweb free pages. Also same as you rent your domain. You get a partial access to that site. As in the county or state site to alhn you give Joyce the ftp so if there is need of change on event of a death or a person simply quits the web she has access. This is not a untrusted controll where some one is going to manipulate a site. And if the site in question is abandoned why would it be a concern to Joyce having some access to that site? Us gen web state co ords have access to all county sites. Even hosted ones why should alhn be any differnet? Well, Dan, it was way back when I was a state and county coordinator on Genweb when the state coordinator got into my site and ruined it out of vindictiveness (I wasn't the only one). That is when I went independent and am affiliated with ALHB and AHGP. And for my pages, that is the way it will remain. We have worked hard to set up continuity in our estate which includes this domain and our work. It is not that I have a problem with Joyce or this project, I am simply protecting our work.
