    3. Almost anyone who has looked in-depth at DNA research will recognize the name of Roberta Estes. Roberta is a well-renowned author & expert in the field of DNA and its uses in genealogical research. She has a web site but for technical reason’s couldn’t link to alhn so she has agreed to write an article on the basics of DNA uses in genealogy and provide further information on the subject. This article, when complete, will be placed in the topics section of www.alhn.org We hope to provide more of this type topics of the site and hope you all benefit from them. Newman's Ridge in Hancock Co, TN; the Blackwater area of Lee Co, VA; Stone Mt in Wise Co, VA; & Caney Ridge in Dickenson Co, VA were known as their refuges. Mid 1800s some migrated west mostly to Arkansas, Oklahoma, Texas & California. This book tells the story of survival & intermarriages & some genealogies of those who married a Melungeon Indian or Lumbee Indian from North Carolina. p45) Adkins- Bennett Line = Wilson Adkins m a Stacy. p 148) Melungeon -Related Surnames of NC, VA, TN, KY. Also Brass Ankles Indians of SC. p 149) Surnames of Carmel Indians of OH, Cuban Indians of NC, Guineas or WVA Melungeons.
