Greetings, I am interested in finding out more about the history of NEW PROSPECT BAPTIST CHURCH near the community of Edwin. Many of my Mathison ancestors are buried in the cemetery across the street. According to a brief two-page history of the church by F.A. Carroll, it used to be known as the Cook graveyard. I am hoping that there might be a more comprehensive history of the church (maybe even a book). Some of the early members and supporters of the church were Cooks, Thurmons, Mathisons, Hicks, Wrights, Williams, Carrolls, Trawicks, Owens, Peels, Martins, Bushes, Bedsoles, Walkers, Adams, Browns, Knights, Hines and Beamons. If you have any of those surnames in your tree....this may be of interest to you as well. New Prospect was once called simply "Prospect" or "Old Prospect." Any help appreciated - Thanks, Steve Groh
