Mary, Maybe this will help a bit: Jesse J. Elmore stated in the 1907 Confederate Soldiers Census: lived at Hartford, Geneva County, Ala; b. Sep 1, 1833 in Greene County, Ga; enlisted at Campbellton, Fla in Feb 1862 as Pvt, Co F, 11th Fla Inf Rgt and continued until wounded at Petersburg, Va Sep 24, 1864 and furloughed home; did not return. It was fairly normal for folks from the lower counties to enlist in Florida regiments. His grave dates: Sep 1, 1832-Feb 20, 1916; m. P.C. (G.), 1840-1913; buried at Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery, Hartford. The Elmores are not listed as being buried to any degree in either Dale Coffee or Henry counties.
