Hello: This is my first post to this listserve. I am researching my McKissack roots in Henry County. My ancestors Archibald and Lucy Ellis McKissack arrived sometime in 1823. Archie and several other McKissack men won land in Early County, Georgia in the 1820 Georgia land lottery. In 1820 they were living in Putnam and Jones Counties, Georgia. They apparently spent only a few years in Early and then moved across the Chattahoochee to Henry. They settled along Yatta Abbey Creek. Some of their descendants are still in Henry County, Southeast Alabama and Southwest Georgia. My line moved on to Mississippi in 1871.
