    3. Hi again Charles H. F. Harris, my great grandfather, was born November 1845. On one record it states he was born in Georgia, but on my grandmother's death certificate it states her father was born in Virginia. He married Emily Segrest, my great grandmother, and my grandmother's same death certificate states her mother was born in Henry Co., AL. They had three daughters, Mittie, Mattie (my grandmother), and Mettie. When Emily died he married Lettie Skinner and they had three sons, Dewey P, Bernard L. and Robert H. He is buried in Clopton at Clopton cemetery?, and has a civil war marker. He was on the 1900 Dale Co. census lsited as Charles F. h/h w/daughter, Mittie. He was on the 1910 Barbour Co., Al. census. He died June 20, 1912. He enlisted in C.W., July 3, 1861, at Ashville, Al. & was discharged honorably April 13, 1865. Unable to make a living by manual labor on account of physical disability. P.O. Clio, Al., Co. G., 15th Al. Regiment, Private Application states eyesight defective in right eye. Left lung diseased. (I believe I got this information at the Dale County library). I have nothing further on Emily Segrest but am still looking. Mattie Harris, my great grandmother, m. Charles Lehman Simmons, who were the parents of my father, Joseph Perry Simmons.
