    3. Hello Two I know of right off hand because they are related to me that is Lieutenant John C. Hardwick d.b. 6/Jan/1833 Lee County Georgia married Mary Whittle Washington Co., Ga. 1859. Enlisted Abbeville Alabama Company I 46th Alabama Infantry 1861. He died 24/July/1902 Headland Alabama. He is buried Westside Methodist Cemetery Headland. Captain Dr. Jon Edward Price 2/Sep/1826 Columbia South Carolina m: Mila Henrietta Kirkland 1846 Abbeville. Died 26/Mar/1898 Headland. He enlisted 29/May/1861 in Company A Sixth Alabama Infantry. He was promoted to Captain by Jefferson Davis. He was Assistant Regimental Surgeon. He only served two years he was ordered by the Medical Board to resign because of a bad heart. ALso buried behind Ephriam Oates is William Lazarus Soloman Jr. he was as the SCV calls them a Real Son. His father was William Lazarus Sr. Captain of Company H 39th Alabama Infantry. He held the rank of Captain when his regiment surrendered. The original Company Commmander was Joe Clayton he was killed in action. William L. was promoted to replace him. That information from his serivce record plus his widow's pension contradicts the date in Mrs. Scott's book History of Henry County and since they are taken from original sources and his wife I believe that date 1870 instead of 1862. It was less than six months from the time he died til his son William L. Jr was born according to Mrs. Scott's Book. Lt. Hardwick andCapt. Price do not have grave markers. Ephriam Oates is buried in Abbeville he was mother's paternal Greatgreatgrandfather. Ephriam d.b.27/Jan/1826 Sampson County North Carolina married Mary Ann Ward 16/Aug/1849 near Abbeville. He died 20/Apr/1911 in Abbeville Alabama he enlisted in Armstrong's Company Henry Mounted Rebels 2nd Class Militia. He had been in Gracie's Co. Alabama Militia a Lieutenant. He does not have a grave marker either. I will look for the list ofVeterans buried in Abbeville I have 40 something. Five in the Bethleham Baptist Cemetery in Headland. ----- Original Message ----- From: minder <Reminder@snowhill.com> To: <ALHENRY-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, September 23, 1999 12:35 PM Subject: Re: CSA new grave marked... > Le, > Yes.
