He removed from Georgia to this State upwards of twenty years ago and settled in Henry Co., where he has lived ever since.... It may be said with emphasis, that he was the father of the community in which he lived, of the village which bears his name, and the Church of which he was a member.... W. K. Norton Issue of July 9, 1873 Abner McGehee, son of James and Mary McGehee, was born in Oglethorpe co., Ga., April 23, 1807, and died at Indian Springs, Ga., May 14, 1873. He was a steward at Eufaula, Ala., moved to Glennville, Ala., and later to Summerfield, Ala. His wife died May 27, 1864.
