Is there anything that was going on in that area around 1840 that could have caused families to move out for a short while? I have Elias Strickland in the 1830 and 1850 census in Henry County. I have his sister's husband Solomon Starling in the 1830, 1840 and 1850 census. They didn't live that far apart in the 1830 census. Solomon was on one page near the bottom of the page, then on the next page was John Starling (Solomon and Synthia's father, Synthia was Elias' wife), and then Elias. So it appears they lived close together which would make sense since Solomon, John and Elias all came from North Carolina to Henry County sometime in the 1820's. I've looked all around Solomon Starling in the 1840 census and can't find Elias Strickland. Was there a place in Georgia they coulda gone? Though I can't find an Elias Strickland in Georgia either. Could there have been Indian War's? I thought the Indian conflicts had been resolved by 1840.
