Linda, I am researching the Rowlands have been unable to locate my ggrandmother's family. I would like to identify her parents and siblings. She married Eli Strickland in 1880 and they were living near Daleville in Dale County, AL at the 1880 census. I believe her name to be Jincy Ann Sophronia Rowland/Roland. This was her surname as given on the death certificate of one of her children. She is buried at Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery in Holmes County and the headstone reads: Jency Ann Surfroney Strictlind, 11-20-1852 to 12-14-1905. "Mother thou art now at home". Here is the 1880 census entry: 1880 Dale County Census, dated 17 June 1880, Beat #5, Page 27, SD4, ED62: [beat # 5 was daleville-gilleys on 1880 census, Daleville is located near the SE corner of Dale county] 243/243 Strickland, Eli, w, m, 25, Laborer, born in AL..MARRIED DURING THE CENSUS YEAR! Gencie, w, f, 25, keeps house, born in AL I think that this is possibly her family in the 1870 census: 1870 Dale County census, taken 21 July 1870, page 159 [234B on Heritage Quest CD], Beat #10, Clopton Post Office, Alabama, shows the following family: [Clopton is in the NE corner of Dale Co] Dwelling 100 Rolan, Thomas, 35, m, w, farmer, NC, real estate value $1200, personal property value $600 M.
