I am searching for a John B. WILLIAMS who was born about 1790 in an unknown place in South Carolina. Judging by census records he married in Georgia to Nancy COLSON. He had a couple of children there, then moved to Alabama and had more children. The family then moved to Texas. He appears there in a number of land transactions and is also on the 1850 census, the first one I have recognized him on. According to oral history, son Irvin reached manhood and "went back to Alabama." The 1850 census of Henry Co, Alabama, shows him as a newlywed to Nancy WALDEN. That would make it appear that the John B. WILLIAMS family had lived in Henry Co., earlier, but I have been unable to locate a record to show that. John B. WILLIAMS was shown as a blacksmith in Texas and seemed to be a prosperous land owner. Land records in Henry Co. might reveal something. COLSON as the maiden name for his wife is also oral history. I have no record to back that up. Charlene W. Brazell
