I am in the process of writing and editing a book of the John C. Bates generations and remembered that there was mention of a Publisher in Dothan, Al that had published one, or more, of the books about Henry Co. Does anyone know if they do publishing purely for individuals that probably will not ever be sold outside of family members? This project so far will take about 350 pages unless my "editors" come up with more names and information to be included of standard 8 1/2 X 11 landscape two columns format. There are presently no pictures especially for this original version but there is a possibility for a later publishing if I can come up with the extra cash that would be required. tks and che-ers Bill B
Bill--I suggest you contact Henry County's official historian, T. Larry Smith, concerning your Bates family venture--CONGRATULATIONS by the way. Larry writes a weekly column in The Abbeville Herald entitled "Henry County Siftings". Periodically, he has these reprinted in book form. Larry, the key organizer of the Henry County Historical Group, Inc., has had nearly a dozen books pertaining to Henry County history printed over the past 10+ years. His books are beautifully hard bound, but I am certain you can get a less expensive soft bound book printed. Larry's email address is TumbletonTom@aol.com. He is an extremely busy man, but you will get a response when he knows more Henry County history is being documented. Godspeed in your endeavor!! Very henry Countily Yours, Steve Elliott "William G.
