My 2ggf was Stephen Wright Bateman, b. Nov. 22, 1814 in Sumter Co., SC, to Rev. John Bateman and Martha Woodard. Stephen migrated to Barbour Co., AL by 1833. I suspect, but obviously don't know for sure, that there was a Wright in his ancestry. If you should ever run across a Bateman-Wright connection, I would very much appreciate your letting me know.
