He was born in South Carolina. He married Nancy PARRISH she also is called Maranda in records. HIs second marriage was to Mary "Polly" KIRKLAND. His daughter Mary Ann WARD married Ephraim OATES. I have in my files that James Jackson Ward who married Malinda "Nancy" Ann Parrish was the son of Joseph R. Ward. James and Nancy had Mary Ann Ward who married Ephraim Oates.
