According to Mrs. Marvin Scott in "The History of Henry County, Alabama" James Ward (buried in the Stokes Church Cemetery) was born in 1783 and died in February 1860. If the date of death is correct, he shouldn't be on the 1860 census. On the 1850 census James Ward was 66 which closely matches a 1783 date of birth.
