I don't know why I didn't see your note earlier; Henry County is on my "notifications" list. I firmly believe that India(ana?) Raley was the daughter of Henry D. Raley and Caroline Matilda Jane Elliott, and that Henry was my gggf's (Benjamin M. Raley) brother. I'll summarize my "evidence." I have a copy of my gggf's Indian Wars pension application. An affidavit submitted in the application by a Dr. Miles Mountain, contains a note that he (Dr. Mountain)knew "2 or 3" of my gggf's brothers when Dr. Mountain was living in Clay County, Georgia. Dr. Mountain is in the 1860 Clay County census (spelled MountEin); the only Raleys in that census were Henry and Charles. I have confirmation that Charles was Ben's brother (from Charles' widow's penison application.) This same Dr. Mountain mentioned another one of Ben's brothers (not by name) who was "killed in the last war," which probably referred to the Civil War. The pension applicaton was submitted in 1892. I think the record on the Clay County GenWeb site about a Henry D. Raley who was killed in the Civil War is for ! this Henry. Henry Raley and Caroline Matilda Jane Elliott were married in Early County, GA 6/19/1851. The spelling of Henry's name in the Early County records is "Rabry." FamilySearch.org has it "Rabey." I believe you are one of my Raley cousins. Let's connect via email and share more notes.
