I am seeking information on the first home of Ephraim and Mary Ann Ward Oates. Did they live on his mother's plantation near Roeville, or did they live in Abbeville Alabama? Where did he and his first wife live. Malinda Ann's Confederate Widows pension only said she was born near Abbeville 5 Feb 1851. Which meant they were all either born on his mother's plantation or in their own home. The plantation was located near the outskirts of Roeville. I know that Mary Ann Oates died 4 Nov 1882 and she is buried in Abbeville. So did that mean she lived in Abbeville at the time of her marriage 16 Aug 1849 or near it which I take to mean maybe Roeville. Le
