Relations said his death was caused by a Kidney Infection. He and Emma were married in Florida in 1879. Their children were Eva PRICE CARROLL, Mamie Elizabeth OATES, Emmett Curtis, Ralph SPORMAN, Emma Kate VANN, William died in infancy in 1896. Robert Edward, and Corinne CAMP. Now how long have Joy and Fred been gone? Do their children live in Abbeville? Who did Kathy and Susan marry?

Theophilus is the son of Nelson M. Thompson b. 6 Jun 1792 presumable in SC. He married Letitia W. Gray on 2 Sep 1819. He died 1 Oct 1859. You mentioned Theophilus married Nancy BARBER?? What sources do you have to indicate her surname is BARBER? The reason I ask is because Theophilus' son Nelson E. married Georgiana BARBER, dau of Solomon BARBER and Nancy LYNN. Solomon is presumable the son of William BARBER and Mary Jane ASHLEY. I do not have proof as of yet. I have been trying to find Nancy's surname for quite some time. If you would like to share more info, e-mail me privately. I have quite a bit of info on many of the branches of this family.

    3. I would be interested in the Price connection as my grandmother was Norma Ethel PRICE, dau of Marion and Martha Mattie SHIRLEY PRICE and he was the son of Whitmore and Sarah SPURLIN PRICE. I know there was a Burrell PRICE that came to Henry Co about the same time as Whitmore but by his DOB on the census I saw it could not be his Whitmore's son Burrell. All the Price's I presently have are from the censuses so any additions would be greatfully received. It is reminding me of facts I had forgotten, or better said, facts that I have not reviewed lately. Just wanted to make a very small improvement in a minor detail concerning Elder Martin H. Armstrong. In one post, Elder Armstrong was referred to as "Reverend" Armstrong. This would have been offensive to him in his lifetime so I thought I would bring it to you attention in his memory so that you can improve your data historically from a denominational standpoint. Being a member of the "Church of Christ of the Primitive Baptist Faith and Order" myself, I know that to others it would seem to be knit picking, but the Old Baptist never, ever use the salutation "reverend" for a minister of the Primitive Faith, only "Elder." It is a strong belief among the Primitives that no mortal man should be addressed as being "reverend", that the only reverend one to ever live was Christ himself. As I said, it is knit picking to most people, and when I saw it as "Reverend Martin H. Armstrong" in print, it jumped up and grabbed me! <smile> So, as I've said, to his honor and memory, to use the term "Elder Martin H. Armstrong" in the future, would make this old Minister of the Gospel very happy! Steve P.S.: Since so many of our ancestors were of the Primitive Baptist Faith and Order, I would happily entertain any questions concerning this the original Baptist Church before the split in that denomination in the early 1800s. That division created the Missionary Baptist (Southern Baptist included here) and the Primitive, or Old School and oft times called “hardshell” Baptist. This is sadly a dying sect of people in Henry County, save for the Piney Grove Primitive Baptist Church that is flourishing at this time. The oldest continuously operating church in Henry County is the Mount Zion Primitive Baptist Church at Hardwicksburg established April 1834. It sits on the brink of extinction with fewer than five members. Mount Enon Church in Edwin has closed in the past few years. So, feel free to drop me an email at jselliott37@yahoo.com and I will share info on this vanishing aged denomination. ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to ALHENRY-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message

    1. [ALHENRY] Lewis FAISON
    2. Le Bateman
    3. Just curious if Lewis FAISON was descended from those FAISONS of Sampson County NC. Who married into the family of Jethro and Artesha OATES? Jethro d.b. 1728 d.d. 1780. Married Artesha in 1782. Oscar and Barbara Bizzell's Revolutionary War Records of Duplin and Sampson County North Carolina show her as Artesha KING OATES, but John CARRAWAY deeded her land. So some researchers think this maybe a clue to her actual surname. Jethro and Artesha had 8 children. Jesse, Jethro E., Lydia, Amy, Elizabeth, Michael ( all of those OTTS from Henry are descended from this son) I do not know why he changed his name to OTT, but he died in NC in 1829. Sussanah, and John is the last son, and child. Jethro E. married first Letticia CARRAWAY they had one son Stephen d.b.1783 d.d.1820. Jethro E's second wife was Elizabeth IVEY. They had John, Jesse, Jethro, Mary Ann, Thomas Ivey, Curtis Carraway, and Claiborne Ivey OATES. Mary Ann and Kilby FAISON had the following children. Dr. Joohn Haywood FAISON, Amelia Elizabeth, Thomas Kilby, Ann Rebecca, Maria Louisa, Mary Vriginia, William Elias, Herman Lloyd, Eldon ( Sammie) FAISON. Elizabeth SHIPP the widow of Stephen OATES relocated to Henry County in 1837. Along with her 11 children. Many members of her husbands family relocated earlier in time to be enumerated on the 1830 census. So perhaps members of the FAISON family came in that migration. Perhaps descendants of Kilby and Mary Ann FAISON the granddaughter of Jethro and Artesha OATES came then Her family is mentioned in Roots, Seeds, and Other Things Vol. I pg. 83.by the late John Martin OATES Jr. Page 83 of Jack's book shows Kilby FAISON married the daughter of Jethro E. OATES and Elizabeth IVEY. Her name is Mary Ann OATES 1811-1882. She is a cousin to Ephraim OATES my greatgreatgreatgrandfather. Ephraim's grandfather James, and her father Jethro E. OATES were first cousins. Perhasps Lewis is connected to one of the BRACKINS or KIRKLANDS. Anyone doing research on this family please tell me if there is a connection to the family in Sampson County NC. Le
