    3. Dear Jacob, I have the 1920 Abbeville, Henry Co., AL census on loan at my local FHL, you might want to look at it yourself, there are bunches of "Wards" all over Henry Co. I noticed because there is a Sam Ward listed with one of my Doswell surname ancestor in the 1850 census. Some of the older Henry Co. census' are online at the Henry Co., AL usgenweb page. 1. Henry County Researchers -- Hello
    2. Dave Mckissack
    3. Hello: This is my first post to this listserve. I am researching my McKissack roots in Henry County. My ancestors Archibald and Lucy Ellis McKissack arrived sometime in 1823. Archie and several other McKissack men won land in Early County, Georgia in the 1820 Georgia land lottery. In 1820 they were living in Putnam and Jones Counties, Georgia. They apparently spent only a few years in Early and then moved across the Chattahoochee to Henry. They settled along Yatta Abbey Creek. Some of their descendants are still in Henry County, Southeast Alabama and Southwest Georgia. My line moved on to Mississippi in 1871. I have set up a Family Tree Maker page at URL http://www.familytreemaker.com/users/m/c/k/David-Mckissack/index.html I'd like to share information with anyone interested in the McKissacks or allied lines. 2. Jeffrey, Is the Henry Co. page down. Just tried to load it & not much came up on it. Wanted to let you know I'm making progress copying the Piney Grove Primitive Baptist Church cemetery. There are a lot of old, worn graves. A Mrs. Bond has read the cemetery and she has a good set of records of the cemetery. I look forward to finishing it & putting it on the HC webpage. 2. I have hit a brick wall and am hoping someone may be able to help me. I am researching the Glover family of Henry/Barbour/Geneva/Dale counties. I know that Susan K. Glover m. Eli Glover in Randolph Co., Ga.and they were living in Henry Co. on the 1852 census reports along side Thomas W. Glover and Ellender Frederick Glover the father of Eli S. Glover. Susan died in Henry Co. between 1857 and 1859 Eli remarried a Mrs. A. J. Corbitt and then the war of the northern agression started and he was captured at Ft. Morgan taken to New Orleans then to Elmira, NY where he died as a POW. On the 1860 census in Henry Co. there is a Louisa (e) Glover she is also on the 1870 census reports then I lose her. I am in hopes someone will know where Susan, Thomas W. and Ellender are buried or some info on them. If anyone has any information on this Glover family please let me know. 1. Susan Jordan Helton
    2. To Sammye, I am also researching the Henry Co. HELTONS. They are a collateral line, but I thought I may learn something about the ARMSTRONGS & KIRKLANDS by looking at all the "in-laws"! I looked through my files & can't find where William is buried. Here's what I have on the Heltons. ****************** Membrance & William Andrew Helton are mentioned as early settlers of Henry Co. Membrance is first found mentioned in Pike Co., AL in the HC deed book "A&B" in 1831 when he sold a slave & livestock to J.W. Grace. I have not proved it but believe they could be brothers...if not that...cousins. I know that William died before Nov 1837 and Susan in 1873. ***************** My ggggm was Cynthia KIRKLAND who married first Wade ARMSTRONG, second to William H. WARD. Her parents were William (Sr.) & Dicey Helton Kirkland. At this time I have not proved the relationship between Dicey & William Helton. There is an Elizabeth HELTON who is 88 yrs old & living with Wm. & Dicey in 1850. She w/be born abt 1762 in Virginia. **************** I also have one Margaret HELTON (born abt 1796) who married Hiram ARMSTRONG in HC in 1824. So the Heltons are found in HC real early. I'm sure they are related...just haven't found concrete proof. BTW, Hiram was a brother to Cynthia Kirkland's first husband, Wade Armstrong. They were sons of Moses Armstrong along with a son named Martin who was a Primitive Baptist preacher. *************** William & Susan Helton did have a son named James who was active in the county serving as co. commissioner & treasurer from 1877 to 1884. He was also a planter with a large plantation in northern Henry Co. I know James & wife, Catherine, are buried in the Judson Baptist cemetery. *************** Maybe someone else is looking for these Heltons & can share with us more information. Patricia Long Dothan, Alabama P.S. I have heard that Membrance was the full-blooded Indian (not proved though).

    3. I am new to your maillist. Am looking for cemetery in Henry County where my g-g-great father may be buried. Does anyone have access to index of cemeteries that would look for William Helton, died in 1836. His wife was Susan Jordan, maybe part or full Indian. If you can help me ,I would greatly appreciate it. Contact me at: pebaker@gte.net Thanks, Sammye Baker
