    1. What does Red Neck mean to you?
    2. John R. Harrell
    3. Hi All, Got good response to my introduction, hope this generates some new genealogy on the lists. Enjoyed everyones intro! I felt I had to address the term "Red Neck" as I had about three responses that were very upset in the way that I used the term. My response is; I called myself, "Yankee" and didn't get one negative response to that. I was never called a Yankee until I moved to the south--so to me, red neck was just the same term in reverse to Southerners. ****No negative hidden meaning behind it at all. My husband calleds me "Y" and I call him "RN". As far as getting the definition from some responders, Why do you feel the need to take the time to look up the meaning of RN and then bother e-mailing me?? My letter was totally in fun and some of you are making a flame out of it where none was intended. Before I can reply, the list owners send me all the rules regarding flames------I didn't flame anyone!! Are we doing genealogy or just trying to make trouble out of nothing? I have already unsubscribed from some of these lists as there isn't anything going on but fighting everyday. So far this week I have been told: NO files to list NO pictures scanned to list NO Flame (Red neck was a flame Yankee wasn't) NO personal replys or intro's to list, list server can't handle it because everyone will do it No forwarding any letters No mass mailings, I understand this one, big time!! However, some have been carrying on for weeks about colleges and other misc, I have just deleted what I don't want to read, no problem. I think some of these lists need to take a look at some of the surname lists as: Kirkland, Monk, Thames and Harrell lists. All these people are very helpful and game for just about anything as long as no one purposely hurts someone else. If there servers can handle pictures and files why can't everyone elses? PLEASE E-MAIL ME PERSONALLY OR YOU COULD BE SPAMMING!!! DON'T E-MAIL ME TO CORRECT MY SPELLING, I NEVER CLAIMED TO BE AN ENGLISH MAJOR! Lorie Harrell The most hated person on the internet this week!!

    1. Thomas Monk m. Elizabeth Hymkia or Hamby ??
    2. John R. Harrell
    3. I am having some confusion with my Thomas Monk 1820 SC (I have his birth year as 1822 SC)? I have him married to Elizabeth Hamby born 1821 GA (I have 1829, GA), and family info thinks her maiden name may be "Hymkia" Could this mean Hamby? Was it changed? Then I have the name Gains nearby her last name on a sheet of old paper? Thomas Monk is the son to Lydia Kirkland and Joshua Monk from Edgefield District, SC. These folks tie into my Kirkland, Monk, Harrell, Hawkins, Evans lines that came from NORTH CAROLINA, SOUTH CAROLINA, GEORGIA, TENN, ALABAMA. Just trying to clear up this confusion! Thanks in advance, Lorie Harrell
