Hello, I would appreciate any information on the Rileys and Brannons of Henry County. Thanks, Charles
Cat I will surely look that up for you. It might just take me a bit though. But one thing that sounds really strange about your Tindell's. is, I have no Tindells, but my Cochran family that lived in Henry Co. AL moved to Calhoun Co. FL, and are buried there. Do you have any Cochran's along your family lines ? I will get back with you on the lookups, several of the books are without a index, so its really hard to look it up quickly, but shoudl be able to get to it by this next weekend ! Linda, Were your WELCHes from SC? Also did you have LENOIR or WESTMORELANDs connected to your GRIFFIN line from the upstate of SC? I WISH I could answer that question! The WELCH name, I am not researching (I was hoping a Welch researcher could supply me with info). This Will was the first mention of the WELCH name. Through an article I found in the Montgomery AL Archives, (submitted in 1976 to a newspaper in Wetumpka AL, a Griffin reseacher at that time, was inquiring about a lost GRIFFIN Family Bible) and she believed, Colonel Archibald GRIFFIN (the grandson of John GRIFFIN, that came into Nash Co. NC c: 1742), and Archibalds' son Lt. Colonel Hardy Griffin, left NC with the Bible. She says they were in Laurens Co. GA, c: 1820's (Hardy was married in GA 1825, to a Rachel WAY), and that 'it is said Archibald died in Wetumpka AL in 1838'. Researching that info, I did find Archibald, Hardy and others in Wetumpka and Archibald DID die in Wetumpka (he is buried in the Old Wetumpka Cemetery). I am trying to link this Griffin family with my direct line of GRIFFINS that settled in Henry Co. AL. SC, I just don't know. On one document (for John Thomas GRIFFIN, son of Dempsey, grandson of Thomas, John T. was county Commissioner five years, Justice of the Peace four years, and elected to the State Legislature in 1919, and served as Mayor of Newville AL), it states his father (Dempsey) was born in SOUTH CAROLINA--? There is debate over that, cause it also says' Thomas was born in SC, family history has always known Thomas (son of General W.) as born c:1803 NC! The names you mention, I don't remember coming across either of those. But this 'brick wall' just keeps getting higher! Wish I could have told you more. Please keep me in mind IF you should run across any GRIFFINS' in your WELCH research. Sorry to have been so 'long', but I keep repeating these names, hoping somebody will recognize them and we can find a link!!! Mr. Parnell, Saw your AL-HENRY correspondence with Ray Hutto. I am also researching PARNELL out of Dallas County, AL into pts west. I was wondering if you are connected to this line? My husband is descended from this line: John Parnell Daniel Parnell Daniel Parnell James Calhoun Parnell > TX Henry Daniel Parnell (Hearne, TX) ann Parnell conaway Jerry L. Conaway My husband Anne
Ray, You are an angel! I think this John WEBB may be the son of the Rice WEBB I need. Rice was a Rev. War patriot, and almost certainly married and started his family in NC, so this fellow might the right age to be his son, maybe his eldest one. Every little bit of data helps to straighten out this family! Now I need to see if I can find tax records or something and look at this guy's land and see if it the same or near Rice's....if I can just find RICE! oh how I wish I could turn back time and make sure 1800 - 1850 records were more detailed and had survived until today! Anne
Sharon, I looking for any information on William Lolley or his son Henry Lolley. William moved to Henry county from North Carolina in the early 1800's. Thanks in advance... Gene
Sharon, you are wonderful to do all this lookup. My surnames in Henry County are: Hardy, Hammock, Arrington, Brookins, and Phillips. I would especially like to know if Edwin and Avarilla Brookins are the parents of my great grandfather Ira H. Brookins born 13 Mar 1828. Ira moved to Henry Co., AL from Randolph Co., GA about 1850. Any info would be appreciated. Is there a write-up on any of the above surnames?
