The 1855 AL state census, 1860 Fed census and the 1870 Fed census for Henry Co used to be available at Tracking Your Alabama Roots. Now that that site does not seem to be working anymore does anyone know if there is another way to access these? Brenda
I am not for sure, as I have not looked, but try www.usgenweb.com you can use the state archives search engine for the name you are hunting, but also go to the state pages and the county pages. Do not ask me why, but I have discovered that not all things get pulled up on the state archives search engine that you can get by using the search engine of the state archives on the state page or the search engine on the county page! I AM LOOKING FOR MY GRANDFATHER, JAMES WILLIAM ANDERSON,I THINK HE WAS BURIED THERE. HE DIED IN 1926, I WAS TOLD. I CANNOT FIND ANY RECORD OF HIS DEATH.PLEASE CHECK YOU RECORDS. THANKS BOBBY

Hello, I pray for you in your search for your father. I have a question. What exactly is your connection to Henry County or Bibb County. I saw it on both sites. I know that this may seem a bit morbid but as I did with my husbands grandfather, I started backwards with the Social Security Death Index. It kind of gets the worst done and over with. Forgive me if I seem a bit harsh but that is my experience. Best Bet is to try the people finder in your browser. Try by name not by location. Try to find anyone that you can remember, then put the pieces together. You may be able to contact someone. Have you found a sight for Monterey Park, California. You may want to venture to neighboring states also. Well, this may not be much help but keep praying and believing and God will make a way.
Josie, That sounds like it may be on the right track but I think my Emily was probably born a little later than that. Her husband, Charles Harris, was born in 1845, and their childeren were Mittie, b. 1869, Mattie, b. 1879, Mettie b. 1885. Mattie was my grandmother and thought it possible her name could have been Martha. Thanks for your time and your help. Okay, the only Emily I can find is daughter of Ira Segers. She is Emily or Emaline, born about 1836 in Alabama. I don't have anything else on her, like spouse or death date. My Segers start in eastern NC with John Segers and his son SOuthward Segers Sr. Southward married Sarah and had the following children: Courtney, IRA, Patsey, and John. Then he married Nancy and had the following children: Gus, SOUTHWARD JR, Rebecca, Delilah, Smithy, and Martha. I am descended from Southward Jr.....The Emily I'm telling you about is the daughter of his halfbrother Ira. Ira (b. 2-1-1798 in NC) moved to Barbour CO. AL. and married Elizabeth. Their children: Matthew?, Hugh?, Letty, Sally, Southward, Emily, William, James and Mary. Let me know if you think this could be your Emily. A good clue would be her est. birthdate of 1836, also look at her childrens' names...you can see that names are repeated in this fmily quite a bit. Hope this helps...let me know, Stephanie
