    1. [ALHENRY] WILLIAMS/ GALLOWAY/ WALDEN/ WHIDDEN
    2. Bobbye Davis, This won't answer your WILLIAMS, GALLOWAY question, but I'd like to say that I have had a slightly different one for a long time. My great-grandparents, Irvin and Nancy WALDEN WILLIMS lived in Shelby County, Texas, at the time of the 1880 census. They had a large family of their own but on that census they had a six month old infant named Thomas GALLOWAY in their household. The census taker identified the child as "boarder." When I began research, no older family member could suggest any identity or relationship between the WILLIAMS and GALLOWAYS. In the same community but nine housecalls away is a WHIDDEN family. In their household is a 21 year old man also named Thomas GALLOWAY. His occupation is Farm Loborer, but his relationship to that family also is listed as "Boarder." I have wondered if he was a young man whose wife had died and my great-grandparents were giving him a hand with the infant. In 1850, Irvin and Nancy WALDEN WILLIAMS were living in Henry County, Alabama. They went from there with the WALDEN family to Walton County, Florida. They later went on to Texas where Irvin's WILLIAMS family was established. The adult Thomas GALLOWAY of 1880 has no birth records recorded on the census. The infant Thomas GALLOWAY was said to have been born in Texas, his father in Alabama and his mother in Louisiana. Several families are known to have moved from Henry County, Alabama, to Shelby County, Texas. Irvin WILLIAMS had been born in Georgia. His family moved to Alabama when he was a child. Later they went to Texas. When he was grown, Irvin WILLIAMS "returned to Alabama." As he was a young newly-wed in Henry County in 1850, it seems logical that that might be where he had lived previously, but I can find no record of his family having been there. Nor can I find Irvin's and Nancy's marriage record. .Subject: [ALHENRY] WILLIAMS/GALLOWAY/ AKINS/BARRENTINE Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit I am searching for information on Mary Ann GALLOWAY who married Wilson C WILLIAMS on March 13,824 in Henry Co. 3. Looking for info on John W. Brown who married Julia Ann Messer. Not sure who John's parents are, could possibly be a Willis Brown but not sure. John W. and Julia are the parents of my ggrandmother, Minnie Mae Brown who married Thomas Coker Cutchens. Tom and Minnie had 5 children (only 3 survive) one of whom is my grandmother, Thelma Mae. Tom remarried to Mattie Lee Woodham after Minnie died and they had 4 children. I'm really trying to find some info on this particular Brown line. John was born 5 Sept 1851, died 25 Jul 1915 and was buried in Piney Grove Cem. 1. [ALHENRY] Henry's Newspapers
    2. Le Bateman
    3. I need two articles and an obituary from two newspapers. The obituary is for Dr. W. S. Oates perhaps printed in the Dothan Weekly Eagle the date of publication was perhaps 16 April 1913. Anyway I am looking for a paper that went out of circulation in 1914. The other articles were published in a newspaper called The Headland Standard. The first article may have been titled Headland vs Dr. W. S. Oates 15, or 18 Feb 1908 edition. The follow up article was in the 8 Sept 1909 edition. A law suit was filed by the town of Headland against Dr. W. S. Oates over ownership of the townsquare. Headland wanted the square open to the public, Dr. Oates wanted it private for his family. The follow up article was over ownership of the lots and streets of Headland. Thank you Le

    1. [ALHENRY] WILLIS BROWN and wife MARY
    2. Kathy and Farrell
    3. Looking for info on Willis Brown and wife Mary that shows up in the 1870 Henry Co. census. In 1850, 1860 they are in Dale County. In 1870, Willis is 52, SC; wife Mary 42 SC; children: William 20 Al; John 18 AL; Lucinda 17 AL; Mather 13 AL; James 12 AL; Vicy 9 AL; Mary 7 AL; Sarah 8 AL; and Mary Campbell 75 SC. In 1880 they are not listed. I think that the son John W is my gggrandfather who was married to Julia Ann Messer. In the Piney Grove cemetery is a Willie and Mary whose birth dates are questioned by the person who listed the cemetery. Willis was born ca 1818 by census records and the Willie in the cemetery was listed as born in 1813 (could possibly be 1818) d. 1880; Mary listed as born ca 1828 by census d. 1874, cemetery lister says 1826 but could be 1828. Since my John W and his wife, Julia Ann are also buried in this cemetery and so is a son of theirs (John H), I'm really thinking that Willie/Willis are the same and Mary/Mary are the same ones I am looking for. If these are the same, it would be reason for no listing in 1880 cenus. Anyone who could shed some light on this would really be a big help! 1. [ALHENRY] Re: Joseph Oates-1850-Henry Co. AL
    2. Le Bateman
    3. This was posted to another list, I have sent the inquirer a message saying who I think it maybe. It cannot be Stephen Oates and Elizabeth Shipp's offspring because the document for the sale of the land in Sampson County listed in Sampson County North Carolina Special Proceedings Book 3 pp 43-46 list all of their children, as does Elizabeth's Estate Records and a Joseph is not listed among their offsprings. I found a Joseph on the tax lists for Bladen County North Carolina for 1768. None of the other descendants have an heir named Joseph. So is this actually a grandson or great-grandson does anyone know for certain. 2. Hello Kathy In the 1920 Ancestry.com indexed census, there is only one Henry KIRKLAND as head of household, in Henry Co. Henry C. KIRKLAND, 42, born AL as were his parents Rene, wife, 38, AL as were her parents They had 7 children....the page is hard to read, but it does look like Rene.
