Looking for any information on my grandmother's 1/2 siblings. My grandmother was Thelma Cutchens, daughter of Thomas Coker Cutchens and Minnie Mae Brown. After Minnie's death in 1915, Tom remarrried to Mattie Lee Woodham. Tom and Mattie had four children: Laura Vee, Clayton, LT, and Georgia. They were born: 1918, 1923, 1927, and 1930. Laura Vee married 1st John Lee Griffin Cutchens and 2nd Smith Hatfield. Clayton was married 4 times, the last was named Izora. LT, I know. Georgia was married to Comer Sheffield. I would really like to get in touch with their children. My parents always said that someone in Headland, ALA had an old Roberts family bible. I have found that Mrs. Claude Rodgers had one. I know nothing about her. Does any one have any information concerning this person or her descendants? Would appreciate any information concerning this person or someone related and the relationship of this bible to my line of Roberts. Listed in this bible was the name of Henry R. Roberts who lived in Henry County between Weems X Road and Edwin. He was born March 9, 1818, died Nov 27, 1889. He married Margaret Smith. Would like to know if this Henry is related. Thanks for any information. Pat in FL
I cannot access the messages from Henry County. Something happened to my favorites. Could someone send me the link? Thanks very much Pat [email protected]
Are there any maps of the census districts for the years 1830-1880 Henry County?
Where can I find articles from The Headland Standard. The Archives and History does not have this newspaper. I need a February 1908 article. Article titled Headland vs W. S. Oates. There was also a followup article in the 8 Sept 1909 edition. I believe the dates for the first article is between 15 Feb. to 18 Feb1908. These cases went to the State Supreme Court. Thanks Le
What time periods were the epidemics in Henry County. I have been reading a book by Dr. Jim Peacock, and he mentioned the years 1840-1870 or after. Malaria, or Yellow Fever, and Small Pox. The fever killed Governor Oates, father in Pike County in 1871. So was there also a problem with it in Henry County. Thanks Le

Is there anything that was going on in that area around 1840 that could have caused families to move out for a short while? I have Elias Strickland in the 1830 and 1850 census in Henry County. I have his sister's husband Solomon Starling in the 1830, 1840 and 1850 census. They didn't live that far apart in the 1830 census. Solomon was on one page near the bottom of the page, then on the next page was John Starling (Solomon and Synthia's father, Synthia was Elias' wife), and then Elias. So it appears they lived close together which would make sense since Solomon, John and Elias all came from North Carolina to Henry County sometime in the 1820's. I've looked all around Solomon Starling in the 1840 census and can't find Elias Strickland. Was there a place in Georgia they coulda gone? Though I can't find an Elias Strickland in Georgia either. Could there have been Indian War's? I thought the Indian conflicts had been resolved by 1840.
Sorry to drop in unannounced, but your request caught my eye. I have been searching Henry County Alabama for years, when your name of Barrentine popped up in your search, I was wondering if maybe there was a connection. I am searching for Sarah Ann Barentine who married James Jackson Edwards November 1865. His 1st marriage was to Lucinda Sarah Culver March 1837. He was in Henry county in 1855. Any help would be appreciated.

My gr gr grandmother died in 1884 in Hardin County, Texas. (east Texas). I have a copy of her letter to my gr grandmother dated November 1884 in which she states she has "typhoid pneumonia". I wondered what that meant. My gr gr grandmother moved the family from Brewton, Alabama to Texas in 1883. Diane
My husband's grandfather, George W. Hullett, died in Ellis County, Texas in October, 1916 from typhoid fever. His whole family had it but even though he had it he never went to bed with it so he could take care of the children and save their lives. Consequently, he got pneumonia from it and died. Back in those days they didn't have water that came to them from treatment plants. They got their water from a well or from a spring and that is where the typhoid fever gets started from. The Hullett famliy got the typhoid from their water source. Did anyone ever found out where mr. elliot was or if he was back in the hospital. idella
It appears from what I have found Typhoid Fever was in Alabama even during the War Between the States. Apparently this is often caused by contamination. Winnette This query was found on the Morgan Co. Al website. Query 029 [email protected] 4/10/2003 NEWTON/WALKER I have just learned that the daughters of my grandfather's brother, William Riggs Newton who died in Tenn. from typhoid fever in 1915, were living with their guardian Ella Huddleston Walker whom I believe was a sister of their mother Mattie J. Huddleston Newton, and in 1916 she petitioned for their monies to be transferred to Morgan Co., AL where they were living. The daughters names were Mary Caroline Newton born Sept. 2, 1902 and Tommie Allen Newton born Sept. 8, 1906. I have no further information, but hoping I might find some cousins from this line. --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Checked by AVG anti-virus system (http://www.grisoft.com). I just received from the AL bureau of statics my great-grandmother's death certificate. I had never, ever heard the fact that she died from Typhoid Fever. Minnie Mae Brown Cutchens died in Oct 1915 in the Headland Hospital in Headland from Typhoid. Does anyone know there was an outbreak at that time or maybe this was just an isolated case?
