He may have been married to Abbegail b 1818 in Henry County, Freemans Ala. They had two sons, George b 1855 and Morgan b. 1849-1853? Morgan...same man different dates. I later find James, sons George and Morgan in Lafayette County Fl, and James is married to Sarah Best. The Best family information eludes me. My g g grandmother was Mary Ann Miller Sparrow who was married to James Best in Lafayette Fl. I am trying to see if either Morgan or George was named James also, and used middle names, and or what happened to them. They disappear after 1870. I believe Abbegail Best from Alabama died in the civil war and that is the reason the boys lived with their father and step mother in Lafayette County Fl This is beyond a brick wall and most of what I have is strictly census records, and family stories Any information or even ideas would be appreciated. Bill, Catherine Skinners grandad was Benjamin Skinner that came to Darlington County, SC, Stokes Bridge area and a lot of Stokes came also, hence the name Stokes Bridge. Catherines dad was Nathan that went to Henry County Al. I have not researched the Stokes but there is lots of them buried at Hebron Cemetery, Stokes Bridge, Darlington County SC. Catherines uncle, Edward is believed to be the one that gave the property for the Cemetery and the Church. Carl B. According to the biography of John Bird Ward (http://www.rootsweb.com/~alhenry/Cem/abbe.htm), James Ward and Malinda Parish were his paternal grandparents; Joseph Ward and Matilda Wilcoxen were his maternal grandparents. I think that Joseph and Matilda were listed as Joseph and Martha Ward on the 1850 Henry County census: Ward, Joseph, 47 Martha, 48 John, 18 Christopher, 14 Matilda, 12 Daniel, 9 Matilda Ward is in the household of Christopher Ward in 1860: Ward, Christopher, 24 Nancy, 18 Matilda, 59 John, 28 Joseph, 18 Wiley, 14 If I am right about this, then Joseph Ward was born about 1803 and probably died before 1860; Matilda Wilcoxen was born about 1802.
