    1. Ancestry Family Tree Families of the Deep South - HICKS
    2. I have attempted to correspond with the owner of the above site with no success. Maybe someone on the Henry County mail list can answer my question. At the above site is a tree showing Unknown Hicks born about 1770 in SC. This individual is shown with four children: Unknown born 1795, Noah 1800, Wm 1805 and Samuel 1810. The Samuel being referred to is my gggrandfather Samuel James Hicks. I would like to correspond with the individual that submitted this information to the owner of the above site. How was the connection made between my gggrandfather Samuel James Hicks and the other three known individuals? As long as I have been researching I've never found a documented connection. During the Indian war of 1836 my gggrandfather was known to be living in Marion County, GA (according to his wife's pension application) and returned there and lived until he went to Alabama. Another Hicks was there Gilliam. In researching the LDS site using Gilliam - the given name William also comes up. Hopefully, my e-mail will reach the individual responsible for the information at the above web site. Thank you. Jeanette

    1. Re: [ALHENRY] More on Daniel Sexton
    2. Talking about a long shot in the dark ... I have a Sexton in my family! He was married to my Dad's sister. His name was Piney Sexton and buried with his wife, Elizabeth Sarah Blankenship Sexton, in Lucerne, Al. There were no children from this marriage. I think they married in Elmore Co, Al, but lived in Montgomery, Al, until their later years when they moved to Luverne. I was told he had a brother down there. Heard also that back when they had carnivals and all he worked many of those. This probably won't help you but it always nice to pass on what info we each may have. If my memory serves me correctly their deaths were in the early to mid 50's. Catherine Cat (aol://1391:44-53347/)

    1. More on Daniel Sexton
    2. I have found Daniel Sexton on the Florida Death List in Okaloosa County, also on the Funeral Records of that county. Still can't find them on the FL census from 1900 -1920. Josephine Hughes' dates are: 9 Jan 1881 - 23 Apr 1933 Daniel S. Sextons are: 18 Jul 1869 - 26 May 1940 I have him with his parents in GA in Decatur Co in 1870. His father was Seth R. and mother was Missouri. They are in Jackson Co., FL in 1880. Her parents are William Nathan Hughes and Melissa Sellers. Josie and Daniel married in Henry Co. on 15 Jan. 1899. I have looked at every Sexton, Daniel, Josephine, and Josie in the census to no avail. I know they were both buried at Union Hill Baptist Cemetery in Houston Co. - about 3 or 4 miles out of Cottonwood area, where Josie's parents lived. My mother thinks there was a child called LES. They are not in my direct line, but I am trying to get information on my grandfather's brothers and sisters. His name was Willie Fitzhugh Hughes. Thanks, Linda Dumas
