    1. Re: [ALHENRY] Ward or Kirkland
    2. Hey Linda! Actually, I have a Matthew Sellars that married "Mary" (don't know the last name) on 20 July 1837. She was originally married to Jeremiah Corley and had the following children: Mary Elizabeth, Matilda, and Mahala. I don't have a Jane Ward, but that's not to say that she is not related in some way or another to the other Ward's I have. I don't have any "Billys," but I do have four different William Wards. Unfortunately, none of the siblings I have for them match up to Jane; however, I may not have all of the siblings listed either. Can you give me any further information? Thanks!! 3. Shannon, glad we can possibly make a connection! Tell me anything you know about the Ward children, where did they go, what happened to them ?? How was Benjamin F Culpepper related to them in that census (1860) ? Like I said, not absolutely sure that Nancy (with William) in 1860 is our Margaret, but it is just too close not to be ?? Nicknames back then were used more than they are now, in my opinion ! Why was our Nancy called "Polly", nickname for Margaret, Mary ?? Thanks, Linda

Surnames: Armstrong Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/YS.2ADI/3087.1.1.1.1.1.2.1.1.1 Message Board Post: Shannon and Winnette: I am really, really enjoying the interaction on the Parrish and Armstrong families! It is reminding me of facts I had forgotten, or better said, facts that I have not reviewed lately. Just wanted to make a very small improvement in a minor detail concerning Elder Martin H. Armstrong. In one post, Elder Armstrong was referred to as "Reverend" Armstrong. This would have been offensive to him in his lifetime so I thought I would bring it to you attention in his memory so that you can improve your data historically from a denominational standpoint. Being a member of the "Church of Christ of the Primitive Baptist Faith and Order" myself, I know that to others it would seem to be knit picking, but the Old Baptist never, ever use the salutation "reverend" for a minister of the Primitive Faith, only "Elder." It is a strong belief among the Primitives that no mortal man should be addressed as being "reverend", that the only reverend one to ever live was Christ himself. As I said, it is knit picking to most people, and when I saw it as "Reverend Martin H. Armstrong" in print, it jumped up and grabbed me! <smile> So, as I've said, to his honor and memory, to use the term "Elder Martin H. Armstrong" in the future, would make this old Minister of the Gospel very happy! Steve P.S.: Since so many of our ancestors were of the Primitive Baptist Faith and Order, I would happily entertain any questions concerning this the original Baptist Church before the split in that denomination in the early 1800s. That division created the Missionary Baptist (Southern Baptist included here) and the Primitive, or Old School and oft times called “hardshell” Baptist. This is sadly a dying sect of people in Henry County, save for the Piney Grove Primitive Baptist Church that is flourishing at this time. The oldest continuously operating church in Henry County is the Mount Zion Primitive Baptist Church at Hardwicksburg established April 1834. It sits on the brink of extinction with fewer than five members. Mount Enon Church in Edwin has closed in the past few years. So, feel free to drop me an email at jselliott37@yahoo.com and I will share info on this vanishing aged denomination.
