Hello, I am interested in where I might find records for families living in Boligee in the mid to late 1800s. I have discovered that my husband's great great grandfather was a Jordan Soloman, who appears to have been born circa 1835 and is found living in Boligee in the 1870 and 1880 census records. It appears that by 1880, Jordan Soloman, who was African American, owned his farm and had several sons. There also appear to have been two other Soloman families who are perhaps related. One is the family of a Primus Soloman and the other is the family of an Alfred Soloman, who was a blacksmith. Is there a Historical Society or county courthouse where early records for Boligee may be kept? Thanks so much!! Bev W
