    3. Becky, I was not aware of the new Greene Co,AL homepage and thanks for bringing the new URL address to our attention. However, I wonder what happened to all the information that was on the old homepage. I descend from the very early settlers in Greene Co, AL including MORROWs and STOREYs. They came there in 1820. In fact, I wrote the article in the History of Greene co,AL book on my GGG Grandfather, Henry Storey, Rev. war veteran. He was Elder in New Hope Presbyterian Church but I saw no mention of it or cemetery on new homepage. What are the plans to transport info from the old homepage to our new one or, should we resubmit information to you? thanks again for accepting this challenge on our homepage. 2. I am looking for more information on the Mary Permento family that I found on the 1860 Greene County (Havana) census. The correct spelling of the name is Permenter. The family seems to have started and stopped there. There is no census listing of her before or after 1860. If she was a widow at age 23 with 3 small children I thought she would have remarried; however here again, I can't find it. Any suggestions of where to look will be greatly appreciated. 2. Becky P.
    3. This query was sent to me by mistake. Would anyone be able to help this person? I am looking for information on Lightfoot's Place. It was in south Greene County, near Forkland. I am interested in the "Graves on Lightfoot's Place" as well as any other information. The Greene County Library in Eutaw had an index of typed Greene county records which listed "Graves on Lightfoot's Place", but the book 192 was missing, so I could not see the records. In the The Greene County Directory a Lightfoot was listed as a livng in the Forkland post office area. Thanks in advance for your help. 1. Census Help Please and Thank You!
    2. Sharon Cobb
    3. Hello All I'm attempting to locate my family line in any census records at all for Tuscaloosa or surrounding areas; Hale, Perry, Greene, etc. Jul 23, 1884, Wed. Married on the 10, July at the residence of Irving Evans. In the neighborhood of Big Creek, William boover of New York and Miss Matilda Lett of Tuscaloosa Co. I'm very interested to find Matilda in 1870. 1880 and 1890 census. I have her prior in 1860 and also in 1900 but nowhere in between. In 1900 she was still using the Lett name and not the married name of Boover. I assume this is because, according to family oral history, William went to Ireland to take care of some family issues and never returned. 1850 Census Tishomingo Co., Mississippi, Southern Division, Pg 165B. 1044/1044 Belfield Lett 36 [1814] M KY Jane 33 [1817] F AL Luiza 6 [1844] F AL John 4 [1846] M AL Mary 1 [1849] F MS Enumerated on Nov 28, 1850 by Isaac Lewellen. 1860 Census Greene Co., Alabama, Knoxville Precinct, Knoxville PO, Pg 971 652/652 L E Lett 38 [1822] F SC [ L Emeline?] L 16 [1844] F AL [Luiza?] J 14 [1846] M AL [John?] M 12 [1848] F MS [Mary?] W 7 [1853] M AR [?] B 3 [1857] M AR [The Belfield that married Frances M Neighbors?] Enumerated on Jul 22, 1860 by J D Carpenter. 1880 Census Tuscaloosa Co., Alabama, Beat No 9 [Hughes], Pg 585A. 33/33 Lett Jane E W F 55 [1825] Self Wd AL Unk Unk J W F 14 [1866] Dau S AL AL Blank - probably to show that birthplace is unknown 34/34 Lett Wm W M 27 [1853] Self M AR Unk Blank - probably to show that birthplace is unknown C W F 26 [1854] Wife M AL AL " M M W F 6 [1874] Dau S AL AL " D W F 3 [1877] Dau S AL AL " M W M Feb 1880 Son S AL AL " Enumerated on Jun 2, 1880 by Wm J Foster. So you notice here, I do not have them for 1870, and by 1880 Mary was no longer living with Jane E and next door to her mom is her brother William and his new family one of which appears to have been named after his sister Mary Matilda by the MM initials of a daughter age 6. From the wedding announcement in the paper, I located the Evans man. He lived about five houses down from William Lett in 1880 census. Mary Matilda began having children by at least 1873 (possibly one prior to 1873). Some of the children's names are Eugene Phillips/Lett, Lucy Jane Phillips/Lett, Martha Elizabeth (Betty) Boover/Lett and John O. Lett. Tale is the father of the children was a Eugene Coleman Phillips but we do not know if she ever married this man or if the children went by Phillips or Lett except for John O. We do know in 1900 he was going by LETT but later changed his name to Boover. So finding the 1870, 1880 and 1890 census is very important! Any help to fill in the missing census records would be GREATLY appreciated!!! Thanks so much Sharon Griffin-Cobb

    1. Marriage Information
    2. Hello Everyone It has been awhile since I've posted. Currently I'm looking for a marriage between Mary Matilda Lett and anyone around the year 1870. According to the 1900 census she was married in 1870 but you know how the years can be slightly off on census records. I have no clue who she married....possibly a Phillips or Brasfield. In 1886 she married William Boover in Tuscaloosa. I'm checkin all surrounding counties due to county line changes. I know a daughter of hers lived in Hale County married to George Metter when they first married which leads me to believe they must have still been around that area. Thanks for any and all help!
