1. [ALGEN-L] My Short Story
2. For those research genealogy and like to read things about the Civil War, here is something a little different. The character in this story, Martin Jackson, is totally fictitious. However, I have learned that there was a Martin Jackson who actually served with the 77th Illinois Infantry and did fight at Vicksburg. There were also several men named Martin Jackson who lived in the south but fought for the Union. Likewise, there were several men by this name who fought for the Confederacy. The Open Gate © A short story of a modern business man from Butler County, AL who is transported back in time to fight at the Seige of Vicksburg, and the trials he encounters while trying to find his way home. It is a fictional story that combines true events and locations with a genealogical twist at the end.
