Something to be on the alert for is an e-mail with the subject IMPORTANT MESSAGE or something like that, with an attachment... so don't open it. If you view the attachment, you engage the virus and also send it to others.... It will be from someone you know, that is the way it spreads. If sends e-mails to the first 50 names on your address book. -----Original Message----- From: Lygia Cutts <Cuttstree@net1inc.net> To: ALGEN-L@rootsweb.com <ALGEN-L@rootsweb.com> Date: Tuesday, March 30, 1999 4:35 AM Subject: Net 1 Virus Alert! >I received the noticed below this morning from my server. Dear CC's, Over the next several days, I will be sending queries to you by e-mail. I have taken over the Genconnect query board for unknown counties in Alabama and will be cleaning up the board. Leigh suggested that I forward the County named queries to their appropriate County. I will also be posting the correctly formatted queries to my own page. Well, the orphaned counties aren't staying orphaned very long. Pamela Hosey Long, dpdklong@worldnet.att.net, will be taking over the Montgomery County pages in the current space they occupy at RootsWeb. Mary Howell, merhowell1@aol.com, will be taking St. Clair and setting up space on RootsWeb. Sherry Ledlow, SLLedlow@aol.com, has volunteered for Blount County. I'm not sure where those pages will be located. I'll update everyone later. And, I'm discussing Covington and Crenshaw with a lady who is willing to serve as a temporary caretaker until someone else comes along. Still got links to move. I'm catching up as fast as I can. Must have sent 100 e-mails in the past week alone! Leigh

Hi All! Once again the ALGENWEB ARCHIVES has been updated! Autauga Co. - with a great many thanks to David Dennis! Will of Henry Dennis! Butler Co. - with a great many thanks to Mildred S. Brown! 1891 Butler Co. Marriages (this will file be updated until completed!) As you know the archives are allowed to post biographies on families of the counties. However, we are not suppose to post outlines and descendancy trees, ect. I have received some outlines that I was able to get contributors to redo and add information of their families and put into some type of bio form. These I have posted as bios on the respective county page. I DO HAVE SOME THOUGH...I can't use in the archives. I am wondering if the county cc's would be interested in posting these outlines on their county pages. They could start a category on their pages for just outlines or decendancy reports. I know most cc's have "xx(county) Families on the Internet (Web pages) with link to those web sites, but what about those researchers, who do not have web sites but want to get their info out there for others to find them? If any are interested in this then I will post the counties that I have outlines for and let the contributors know where their outlines will be posted. These outlines could be posted as .txt files, like in the archives and the cc's would not have to html pages for each outline. Happy hunting! Hello: This is addressed to those of you who have County mailing lists, ALxxxxxx-L@rootsweb.com, as well as RAN-CLAY-L and AL-AfricAmer-L. Last year, I set up a simple form to allow folks to easily subscribe to the mailing lists. It was working just fine until around 15 February. I just noticed that some change was made to the system such that these notes now appear to come from nobody@c-5.rootsweb.com instead of from the subscriber's address. So, the listowner will now get an administrative message "found on the reject list". I'm trying to track this down with Tim Pierce to see if it can be fixed. If not, I'll take down the form. Until then, you'll need to manually subscribe anyone whose request gets rejected in this manner. I apologize for the extra work. If you don't manage the mailing list for your county, I hope that you are cooperating with the listowner. Please contact him/her and pass on this information. Regards, Leigh
