    1. Election Committee and Board Business Update
    2. Bill Oliver
    3. Good Morning Everyone, First my apologies to the SE and SW regions, individual SCs will have to relay this information to their lists. I have been removed from the SE and SW regional lists. No reason has been given me. In summary, Ginger Cisewski has been appointed to Chair the Elections committee and she is busy at work at that position this morning. She was accepted by a vote of 14 to 0 by the board as of this early morning [EDT]. Good Luck, Ginger. One of Ginger's first headaches was to accept the resignation of Ginger Hayes as Nominations Committee Chair. Ginger [Hayes] has accepted a nomination to the NE Rep position on the Board. And, thus avoids a conflict of interest by her resignation. Celia Snyder has agreed to fill in as Chair of the Nominations committee, so there is not expected to be any delays or problems of smooth operation. Respectfully Submitted, Bill Secretary -- ==== USGENWEB-DISCUSS Mailing List ==== Help save an endangered species...BANDWIDTH ! 3. Good Morning, Please disseminate this as widely as possible. The URL for the Nominations Page for the upcoming USGenWeb Project election has changed to: http://www.rootsweb.com/~tnroane/nominate.htm The Nominations Committee apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause. The move was made because this is my busy season at work and we want to be sure that accepted nominations get uploaded in as timely a manner as possible. Thank you for your cooperation. 3. Nominations for the upcoming USGW Election are now open. Please see: http://www.rootsweb.com/~ilhardi2/nominate.htm for the Nomination Procedure. The committee at this time consists of: Ginger Hayes, Chair Marceline Beem Mary Ann Hetrick Celia Snyder We may add other committee members as necessary. If I've left out anything please send me an email. Hopefully we will have as smooth a process as possible. SC's please distribute this to your state lists and Reps please send it to your regional lists. I'm on my way out the door to work. I will try to answer any questions you have when I get back tonight. Thanks for your cooperation! Ginger gingerh@shawneelink.com

    1. [USGENWEB] Election Process Update
    2. Bill Oliver
    3. For Distribution to the USGenWeb Project Members, Due to some miscommunications the Advisory Board has gotten a late start on the elections process. Elections [voting] for Representatives will begin on July 1st, 1999. However, the Elections process begins today, June 1st, with the opening of Nominations for a period of two weeks. Ginger Hayes, Celia Snyder, and Mary Ann Hetrick have volunteered to serve on the Nominations committee. Ginger Hayes has agreed, via Megan, to Chair that committee. It is my understanding at this writing that an e-mail list is being requested for this committee to begin accepting nominations. A general call through the STATE-COORD-List has gone out to all SCs to prepare a list of elgible voters and to name a Liaison person to communicate with the Elections Committee for their state. Several states have completed this part. The Advisory Board is verifying the positions needed to be filled and I'm sure that an announcement will be made yet today about this. Also, at this time the Advisory Board wishes to put out a general call for volunteers to serve on the Elections Committee. The Elections Committees are made from both USGWP Volunteers and Advisory Board members. Respectfully submitted, Bill Secretary-- ==== USGENWEB-ALL Mailing List ==== The USGenWeb Project is not a commercial project.

    3. Hi All! Yesterday, I wrote to Leigh Compton, our sc and Linda Lewis, Archives Project Coordinator, giving them my resignation from the AL Archives. I will be staying on until a replacement can be found. However, I was contacted by another member of our community who had a suggestion and even offered his assistance. I would consider staying on as AL Archives File manager if I can get some help in converting and uploading files to the archives. One suggestion has been to ask if any of the cc's who have knowledge of ftp would be interested in uploading files to the archives in a timely manner for your respective counties. One of the problems I ran into when I first took over the Archives was that submitters were wary of contributing because their submssions were not posted in a timely manner. I would continue to maintain the Table of Contents (TOC) pages. The volunteer would recieve the files and convert if necesary and add the USGENWEB Notice and upload the files. Once the files are uploaded, then they would need to send me the name, file name, size, submitters name and email addy and url of the file. I will then add a link in the TOC pages to the file and post an AL ARCHIVE Update as I have been doing. If enough cc's are interested in working with me in the Archives, that would be great help and I would stay on as AL Archives File Manager. Or if three or four folks would be interested in splitting up the counties and taking on several that would also be a great help. I already have a volunteer for Madsion and Clarke Co. ....I don't know if it's okay to mention their name or not with out their consent so I won't at this time. Any takers out there???
