I was wondering if anyone knows where the Alfred name originated from? And is there a Coat-of-Arms for the name. I have only gotten back to my gg-grandfather who was b. about 1843. I do not have his exact birth date. His name was Henry Alfred, he and his wife and family lived in Port Byron, NY, Cayuga county, town of Mentz, according to the 1880 county census. His wife's name was Esther b. about 1846, they had three children, William H, my g-grandfather, George and Roseanna. Anything anyone has would be helpful in getting me beyond my gg-grandfather and getting me to my ggg-grandfather. I have other names and would send them along if anyone is interested. Thank you.
