Surnames: ALFRED SHARP BEARD BRENT YOUNGBLOOD Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/nV.2ADIB/1.6.9.1 Message Board Post: Jessica, there is no connection at this time. My David Turner Alfred was raised in Virginia. David was born in 1813 aboard ship on the way to America from France. His parents died and he was raised by Aunt Junie and Uncle Potts in Virginia. I have no idea if they were related or not. All this is word history for David and that's all I have at this point. I have been very lucky this year and have found three new Alfred cousins. Wouldn't it be nice if your Alfred was related to mine. That he was an offspring of who raised my David. Well, mircles do happen but I'm already over my quota with finding the three cousins.

I am related also, but furter back to the children of David Turner Alfred. I have lots of info and will be happy to exchange with you. By the way, Joe and I have just met recently. Mary Anne Giamona

Alfred (1880-1960) from Houston County Texas in your research. Gertrude is my great-grandmother. I have reason to believe that she had a sister named Sallie (possible Sarah Ann) that married Phillip Morgan in Houston Co. on Nov 2 1902. Other siblings may include Mary (married JB Beard on Mar 18, 1906 in Houston Co.) and Richard Alfred (married to Ellzora Herndon on Mar. 9, 1907). Their father is believed to be David Alfred.

Surnames: Alfred Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/nV.2ADIB/1.7 Message Board Post: I was interested in knowing whether your Sarah Ann Alfred Morgan had siblings. My great grandmother was Gertrude L. Alfred (married Jack High) and was from Houston County Texas. I believe she had siblings with the names of Sallie (married Phillip Morgan), Mary (married JB Beard), and Richard (married Ellzora Herndon). Their father's name was David Alfred. All of this information is just word of mouth. Anyway, I though that maybe Sallie was a nickname for Sarah Ann. Any information that you might have to connect Gertrude and Sarah would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I am helping my sister-in-law Darlene Hicks Rogers do a little genealogy research. And here you are and appear to be the same family. She knows that her great grandmother was Emma E. Carpenter, died 1913 and buried in Shine Cemetery. Is this Emma Ridall? If so, it appears you have more information that either Darlene or I. Are you willing to share? If so, let me know. We have acquired some Carpenter Info, but just now starting to try to find out the who, what and where on Emma. Darlene is not on lnternet, but I can always reach my brother at work and get a message to her quickly.

    2. Fred & Mary
    3. I was wondering if anyone knows where the Alfred name originated from? And is there a Coat-of-Arms for the name. I have only gotten back to my gg-grandfather who was b. about 1843. I do not have his exact birth date. His name was Henry Alfred, he and his wife and family lived in Port Byron, NY, Cayuga county, town of Mentz, according to the 1880 county census. His wife's name was Esther b. about 1846, they had three children, William H, my g-grandfather, George and Roseanna. Anything anyone has would be helpful in getting me beyond my gg-grandfather and getting me to my ggg-grandfather. I have other names and would send them along if anyone is interested. Thank you. Fred Alfred

    1. Cherokee kin?
    2. Jim T Musgrave
    3. There are 6 Alfreds who sued to obtain Cherokee citizenship in the late 1800's, claiming they were of Cherokee descent! There is a huge, complete full name index of all these people at http://members.aol.com/rarebk/ This should be a boon to researchers. When you are on the site, go to the Booklists page, and then slowly scroll down past some old genealogy book titles until you get to the Cherokee section. There are some Cherokee genealogy books there, and one of them has this complete index posted. Quite fascinating!
