We just need to find the connection in Ireland!! Thanks, Alfred Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: alfred_bham Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.alfred/45.1.1.1.1.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I found the records of Jean/Jane's death that you mentioned and have also found the census records. I think that Jean/Jane (More likely Jane) is likely the "Jean" that is listed in the 1851 Census from Paris, Brant, Ontario. This is the one that lists Richard, , that I speculate (strongly) is my Great Great Grandfather. I've had an e-mail exchange with a lady who is related to the Richard Alfred from Australia and we've pretty much ruled out them being confused. It is interesting that one of Jane Henderson's children went to Australia. I'm curious now to find the connection with the Richard Alfred family in OZ and the Henderson boy from Canada!! My guess is that they were married before 1857 as that is when their first child (that I know of) was born. One of the sons moved to Australia: Edwin, Egbert, or Albert. Author: alfred_bham Surnames: Alfred Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.alfred/45/mb.ashx Message Board Post: The stories in our family is that our Great Grandfather Richard Alfred came to Brooklyn New York from Paris, Brant County, Ontario Canada. We've run into a virtual dead end when researching the family beyond that. I found a record in the 1851 Canadian Census that lists a 15 year old Richard Alfred, , , his older sister Ann Alfred (17) and their 42 year old mother. Digging a little deeper I found through Ann that there were other siblings. Does anyone out there have information on this line of the Alfred Family?? There is evidently another Richard Alfred who was born about the same time (Mid 1830's) who ended up in Australia. I think there has been a "Meshing" of information though.
