I understand the marriage records for Fayette Co., AL were probably destroyed when the courthouse burned in 1865. I am trying to find the marriage date for my GG Grandparents, Robert Cleveland Rector and Mary Elizabeth Russell. Their first child (I believe), David Rufus "Dave" Rector was born 12/19/1858. They lived in Vernon, AL (now Lamar Co.). Can anyone suggest another method for finding the date? Are there other documents which would include this?
