The Journal-Record - Bicentennial Edition Thursday, July 1, 1976 Section D, Page 11 WINFIELD'S BIGGEST SNOW In 1892 or '93 Winfield had its biggest snow. And it was about this time a Mr. STOVAL from Jasper was stranded here. He had been doing some construction west of here, and had quite a bit of machinery to move on to Jasper. It was so cold the creek just east of Winfield froze over. Mr. STOVAL drove his mules and wagon, with the machinery, over the frozen creek and headed on for Jasper. This gave the "old timers" a big unusual subject to discuss for days.
