John David "Monk"Gillion,age 59,died at his home on Pearidge, in Fayette County Alabama on June 12,2000. He will lay in state at his home beginning at 5:pm June 13,2000.Services will be held at the Philadelphia Baptist Church,of which he was a member,on June 14,2000 at 2:pm with burial at the Painter Family Cemetery. He grew up there on Pearidge,and loved to hunt,fish,and enjoyed sitting on his porch.He also had a love for the forest and spent most of his time there. He will be truly missed by the family who loved him,but as we all know when God calls us home we must go. He was preceded in death by his father David Erastus Gillion,and two brothers,Roy Jay Gillion,and Deloyd Gillion Jr. His survivors are his mother Velva Lee Painter Gillion of Berry,four sisters,Daris Haley of Jasper,Betty Gunter of Tuscaloosa, Iva Nell Springfield of Berry,and Emma Jean Fowler of Berry,one brother Charles Edward Gillion of Winfield,14 nephews and 13 nieces.
