He lived in Coweta, Heard and Carroll Counties until his death in 1904. He was married to Mary Francis Akin. Their children include, Susan (Merrill), Mary Texas (King), Elmira (Garrett), William Henry, James Marion, Florida (Roop, Brock), Orville Nathanial, Caroline, E.L., Irvin Leon (may be E.L.), and Luella (Vaughan).
