DIED John C. Alexander, living about two miles west of this village, of anaemia. After an illness of four months he peacefully sank to rest Thursday morning, March 27th, about two o'clock. Mr. Alexander was born in Walworth county, Wisconsin, May 15, 1848. In the year of 1869 he emigrated to this state with his parents. In the spring of 1870 he settled in McLeod county, on a farm three miles west of Brownton, where he resided until the spring of 1888, when he moved to Glencoe and engaged in business. After living there until 1894, he moved back to a farm two miles west of Brownton where he has since resided up to the time of his death. He leaves to mourn his death, Miss Sadie, an adopted daughter, and two brothers, Robert and William. The funeral was held Sunday afternoon March 30th, at two o-clock from the M.E. church at Glencoe, of which he was an honored member. In his death one beloved and respected has passed to the Christian reward, and the Pearly Gates were swung wide open to admit him whom his friends knew only to love and honor for his nobleness of character, and noble Christ like spirit that seemed to cover him, as a mantle in all his manner of life.
