She was born Margarette Pittman; her parents are Thomas J and Nancy A (Bishop) Pittman, born in Bates County, Missouri. She married Mitchel A. C. Canter in Perry County Jan 9,1911, who was a Civil War veteran. He died June 2, 1925 and on the 1930 Census she was married to Henry Alexander along with her two daughters, Lillie & Georgia in Perry County.
