I have two Josiah's in my husband's family line, but according to "sketchy" details, they were from an unknown area in Kentucky (Josiah born 1783, married to Ann Cooper) and their son (Josiah T, born 6-17-1811 Harrison Co, IN married to Mahala Davis). It seems very coincidental to have the name Josiah, so that's why I'm wondering how common it was in the Alexander line. Thanks, Lori
I have 2 Josiah Alexanders, myself. One, I believe to be the son of Daniel and Prudence Anderson Alexander, born September 2, 1755 unknown location. However he had 2 siblings that died in Tennessee. I do not have a marriage for him at this time. The 2nd one, is Josiah M. Alexander, son of James Madison and Jane Petty Alexander. He was born in Kentucky, probably Christian or Hopkins County area, about 1834. He died in Missouri. I have a bunch of Josephs also and have often wondered if perhaps they were derived from the Josiah name. Virginia in Seattle > How popular was the name Josiah in the Alexander line?
