My g-g-grandparents were Harvey M. Alexander (b. 1850, d. 1929) and Melinda Jane Mainord (b. 1852, d. 1934). I was about to start believing that Harvey just appeared out of nowhere because nobody knows who his parents were. However, I have recently found out through DNA testing that he's in some way related to the Mecklenburg, NC Alexanders. Harvey & his wife have hundreds of descendents that are currently alive and kicking, but I'm the only one that's doing any genealogical research (one of the big bummers of family tree research is the inability to get your family to care).
