Not the news I'd hoped for, but I appreciate your reply. Yes, I have considered DNA testing but unfortunately, I only know of two male decendents of this man, and unfortunately, I haven't spoken to either in at least a decade--and one in more than three. At this point I'm uncomfortable asking. It would be different if it came to proving or disproving a particular path, but at this point I feel like it would be a shot in the dark. Right now I'm trying to compare the 1830 and 1840 censuses as Jesse was born in NC after 1830 while his brother was born before 1840 in KY.
